Aponeurosis

As aponeurosis ( ancient Greek απο from away '... or, off', νευρον , tendon ' -, tendons plate') is known in the medical area or plate structures made of connective tissue . They serve as a sinewy attachment to a muscle or the extension of the muscle end tendons, e.g. B. on the oblique abdominal muscles , hand flexors ( palmar flexors , palmar flexor tendon).

The main purpose of the plantar fascia is to tension and maintain the arch of the foot and protect the muscles, tendons, nerves and blood vessels of the soles of the feet. The palmar aponeurosis protects the nerves and vessels of the hand.
