The Hygiea pharmacy in Spittal an der Drau was founded in 1705 as the Fürstlich Porcin'sche Haus-Apotheke (after the Porcia house ). It is named after Hygieia, the goddess of healing .

In the course of the granting of public rights , it was moved to the main square in 1773. The Hygiea pharmacy has been at the same location since then . The building is a historical monument.

In 1786 the pharmacy came into the possession of the Ebner family, who ran the business for several generations until 1891. Subsequently, the pharmacists Görner, Sisgoreo, Fuchs and Frauwallner each owned the Hygiea pharmacy.

Rudolf Hoefler has been the owner of the Hygiea pharmacy since January 1st, 1993.

Since the takeover by Barbara Schantl in 2018, the pharmacy has been run under the original name of Porcia-Apotheke.
