Aprimira

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aprimira is a variety of mirabelle plums that arose in the Research Institute for Horticulture and Viticulture in Geisenheim from a random seedling of the Mirabelle plum from Herrenhausen . Their synonyms are miracose , apricola , apribelle and apricot mirabelle . Contrary to what some tree nurseries and plant dealers say for marketing purposes, the aprimira is not a cross between a mirabelle and an apricot , but a mirabelle. A chance seedling of the two types of fruit would not be possible at all for reasons of time, the apricot blooms very early and the mirabelle plum again very late. With the naming, the research institute only wanted to indicate the similarity of the fruit with those of the apricot.

fruit

The fruit is relatively large for a mirabelle plum, oblong oval and yellow to orange with pinkish-purple cheeks on the sunny side. The flesh is firm, yellow-orange and honey-sweet with a very fine, tasty aroma. It is easily stone-soluble. The ripening period corresponds to that of the main variety Mirabelle von Nancy , depending on the climate between mid-August and early September.
