Aqua complexes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aquacomplexes (older name: Aquokomplexe ) are hydrated metal ions with a fixed number of water molecules . A coordinative bond therefore occurs between the cations and the water molecules . In this context it is interesting that the ligand field stabilization energy influences the hydration energy due to the occurrence of aqua complexes , which means that instead of the expected linear increase in hydration enthalpy with the atomic number, a more complicated pattern can be observed.
