The term arachnodactyly (from the Greek ἀράχνη "spider" and δάκτυλος "finger") means spider fingers. The fingers are unusually long and thin due to the enlarged hand and finger bones . This change can be present at birth or develop in the course of growth. The changes are mostly symmetrical.
This change can occur in isolation without clinical abnormalities as a normal variant , but it can also be associated with various diseases:
