Arare (あ ら れ, from the Japanese word arare霰 "hail") are different forms of Japanese rice crackers. They consist of rice , wheat flour , peanuts , soy sauce , sugar , sesame seeds and seaweed (in small tinsel).

The rice used is a special type of rice (sweet sticky rice) grown in Japan and Southeast Asia. Rice biscuits and rice crackers have been known in Japanese cuisine since the 8th century and are used as a snack with tea, but also wine and beer.
