The Arashiyama-Schanze ( Japanese 嵐山 シ ャ ン ツ ェ , Arashiyama shantse ) is a ski jumping hill of category K 60 near the Japanese city ​​of Asahikawa on the island of Hokkaidō . Parallel to this hill there is a category K 50 hill. Both hills are now out of service.

Career

In 1965 the Arashiyama ski jump was built in the Arashiyama ski area ( 嵐山 市民 ス キ ー 場 , Arashiyama shimin sukījō ) and modernized and rebuilt in 1984 and 1996. Between the years 1966 and 2004 the Yukijirushi-hai (English Snow Brand Cup , complete: 雪 印 杯 全 日本 ジ ャ ン プ 旭川 大会 , Yukijirushi-hai Zen-Nihon Jampu Asashikawa Taikai , “Yukijirushi-Cup: all Japanese) was held on this hill every year in March [Ski] jumping championships Asashikawa ”), sponsored by the company Yukijirushi Nyūgyō . At this Cup Teruyoshi Sugimoto was able to set the current hill record of 82 m on March 12, 2000. Since 2004 there have been no more competitions on the Arashiyama hill. The ski jump was closed in 2010 and has been overgrown since then.
