Arau

Arau is a city in the state of Perlis in Malaysia . It is located on the Malay Peninsula , about 14 kilometers southeast of Kangar , the official capital of the state. In the city there is a partly colonial-style palace ( Istana ), in which the Raja resides. In the vicinity of the palace is also the stately mosque, which can accommodate more than 1000 worshipers.

The rail connection for travelers from Kuala Lumpur ends in Arau, who can take a taxi to Kuala Perlis and then take a boat to Langkawi .
