Working group measles and varicella

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Measles and Varicella Working Group (AGMV) is an initiative of the Robert Koch Institute and the vaccine manufacturers GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi Pasteur MSD . The scientific lead lies with the RKI. The German Green Cross (DGK) has been commissioned to carry out the project. The core element is a nationwide measles and varicella monitoring system. Using detailed registration forms, doctors throughout Germany report on measles and varicella cases on a voluntary basis. Around 1400 reporting practices are involved. The Measles Working Group started its work on October 1, 1999, and the AGMV has been expanded since April 1, 2005.

aims

Important goals are to record the frequency of measles and varicella and their complications by age group, especially since varicella and herpes zoster are not subject to reporting under the Infection Protection Act. The severity of the disease and the frequency of complications and herpes zoster cases, any breakthroughs in vaccination and the acceptance of varicella vaccination should be registered. A general vaccination recommendation has been in place since July 2004 for children aged 11 to 14 months.

Scientific Advisory Board

A scientific advisory board, which is made up of representatives of established paediatricians and general practitioners, university representatives, representatives of the public health service and experts who are active in vaccination prevention, supports and accompanies the work of the association.
