The Metrology and Calibration Working Group is the coordinating body of the calibration supervisory authorities of the German federal states. It includes the heads of the calibration supervisory authorities of the federal states and, as permanent guests, a representative each from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federal Physical-Technical Institute. The chair changes every two years. The German Academy for Metrology in Munich has been set up as a point of contact for business associations and partners in other member states .

activity

The working group implements the resolutions passed in the national committees for the implementation by the calibration offices and the state-recognized test centers. The technical, organizational and legal questions relevant for uniform implementation in practice are coordinated.

The preliminary clarification of predominantly technical issues and the preparation for administrative regulations are delegated to specialist committees, which are set up as required and assist the higher-level bodies. Experts from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, the calibration authorities of the federal states as well as manufacturers, users and associations are involved.
