Working group for Rhenish music history
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Rheinische Musikgeschichte (ARGE) is a registered non-profit association and was founded in 1933 by Ludwig Schiedermair . Its seat is at the Musicological Institute of the University of Cologne . The current chairman is the Secretary General of the State Music Council of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dr. Robert von Zahn .
She scientifically researches the musical history of the Rhineland and musical life in the Rhineland. The main aim is to preserve and catalog musically important publications (“monuments”) and to collect documents.
It also supports musicological exhibitions and conducts conferences and symposia.
