The Working Group for Self-Determined Living for Severely Disabled People eV (ASL) is a non-profit association founded in 1992 in Berlin . The chairperson is Sabine Graudenz.
The aim of the association is to represent the interests of people who need assistance in public, as well as to advise and support them in attaining or maintaining a self-determined life.
Methods
The objectives of the statutes are to be achieved in particular through
public relation
- Informing the public about the living situation of people with disabilities, changing the public image of the disabled
- Information events and / or targeted public relations
Networking, committee work
- Support of political actions to assert the interests of disabled people.
- Participation in regional and nationwide disability policy committees
- The association is connected to the interest groups of the disabled in Berlin, is a member organization of the German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband , the state working group help for the disabled (LAGH) and the interest group for self-determined living (ISL).
Advisory activity
Counseling for people with disabilities is based on the peer counseling concept. The problems of those seeking advice are taken up by people in a similar situation (those affected as experts on their own behalf on an equal footing). The focus is on self-determination, assistance and personal budget.
Conveying competence
The association offers seminars, workshops and advanced training courses on topics such as the organization of personal assistance or the cross-agency personal budget.

That is why the Sexybilities project has existed since 2000. H. Sex counseling for people with disabilities. There is also a discussion group that meets regularly.
