Work song

A work song is a group song sung during physical work . Often the choir and a lead singer alternate. Work songs are intended to synchronize the workflow and make strenuous, monotonous work easier. They are therefore often adapted to the rhythm of a movement while working.

The widely published study " Arbeit und Rhythmus " by Karl Bücher from 1904 was groundbreaking for the sociology of work , which is also very rich in examples of different work dating back to antiquity (milling, towing, setting sails, etc.).
