The Lohbrügge Arboretum is around 10 hectares in size. It was laid out in 1964, but there are many much older trees to be found that come from the estate previously located there. The area is divided into different geographical regions. In the southeast there is an arborist educational trail .

The arboretum's attractions include bald cypress trees , which are native to the southeastern United States, and bristle pines , which are more than 4,600 years old in their natural habitat in the highlands of Colorado. Representative tree species from the tropics and subtropics are in a greenhouse area of around 700 m². There is also a herbarium with 3200 species.
