Architecten ball dances

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Architecten-Ball-Tänze is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 36). The work may have been performed for the first time on January 27, 1847 in Zum Goldenen Strauss in Vienna's Josefstadt district.

Remarks

The waltz was composed on the occasion of a ball of the Association of Viennese Architects. The date of the premiere is uncertain inasmuch as some balls were canceled because of a death in the imperial family. (See web link). The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 9 minutes and 16 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
