history

Originally built as the Centennial Olympic Stadium for the 1996 Summer Olympics , it was initially converted into a baseball stadium , Turner Field , after the end of the subsequent Summer Paralympics . This was used from 1997 to 2016 as the home ground of the MLB team of the Atlanta Braves . After the Braves moved to the newly established SunTrust Park , Georgia State University acquired the stadium and the surrounding areas to expand the campus .
