The Turner Field was a baseball - Stadium in the American US city of Atlanta in the state of Georgia and the home ground was 2016 MLB -Mannschaft the Atlanta Braves . The stadium was originally built as an Olympic stadium for the 1996 Olympic Games with 85,000 seats and was named Centennial Olympic Stadium . In August 1996, the dismantling to around 50,000 places began.
In late 2013, the Atlanta Braves announced they wanted to leave Turner Field and move to a new ball park. On October 2, 2016, the Braves played against the Detroit Tigers (1-0) for the last MLB game at Turner Field. The Atlanta Braves have been playing at SunTrust Park since the 2017 season .
After the Atlanta Braves moved , Georgia State University bought the stadium and then converted it into an American football stadium. The stadium now called Georgia State Stadium currently has a capacity of 25,000 and is mainly used by the NCAA college football team of the Georgia State Panthers .
