FieldTurf is an artificial turf brand for sports surfaces. It is manufactured and marketed by FieldTurf Inc., headquartered in Calhoun , Georgia , USA . The product achieved great popularity in the late 1990s. FieldTurf Inc. is a division of Tarkett .

history

In 1988 Jean Prévost bought the patent rights for the FieldTurf product. FieldTurf carried out its first major turf installation for Middlesbrough FC in 1997. Many more installations followed, so that by 2012 FieldTurf can be found on over 7000 sports fields. That makes FieldTurf the market leader.

FieldTurf lost a court case in 2000 and had the competitors AstroTurf 1.5 million US dollars to pay a fine.

In 2005, the French flooring manufacturer Tarkett bought the previously independent FieldTurf Inc. In May 2010 FieldTurf bought EasyTurf in order to gain access to the growing artificial turf market for private individuals in the USA.
