Archive, library and information assistants work in libraries, documentation centers, archives and similar institutions. You are responsible for procuring, acquiring and recording a wide variety of media, information and data using modern documentation programs and databases. An important part of everyday work is the contact with suppliers, booksellers, publishing staff and customers and users within one's own institutions.
education
The teaching profession archive, library and information assistant is set up in Austria as a dual training with an apprenticeship period of three years. The professional profile provides that the apprentice is able to carry out the following activities practically upon completion of the apprenticeship:
- Procure and acquire media, information and data,
- Formally capture media, information and data,
- research in databases and networks,
- Organize, archive and create registers,
- Carry out technical media processing, inventory maintenance and revision,
- Handle loan transactions,
- Provide initial information to users,
- carry out administrative work with the help of the company's information and communication systems,
- participate in the company's bookkeeping and cost accounting,
- Create, maintain and evaluate statistics, files and files
