Ardara (Ireland)
Ardara ( Irish : Ard an Rátha; German: "Höhe des Ráths ") is a place in County Donegal in the north-west of the Republic of Ireland .
The place
Ardara is located in the southwest of County Donegal between Donegal Town and Glenties on the national road N56 , which opens up as a circular route the west and north of the county. Donegal Town, where the national connection by Bus Éireann ends, is around 25 km from Ardara. Parliamentary the place belongs to Donegal North East .
The population of Ardara was determined in the 2016 census with 732 people; Thanks to its location and the focus on tourist aspects, the place gives the impression of a busy little town in the season (May – September). The offers include a walking festival , a “multicultural festival” until 2015 and the annual Cup of Tae festival of traditional music in May.
One kilometer to the north is the menhir of Owenea .
