Bus Éireann
Bus Éireann (pronunciation [ bˠʊsˠ ˈeːɾʲən̪ˠ ], Irish for "Bus Ireland") is an Irish bus company that covers a large part of the national public transport in the Republic of Ireland and to Northern Ireland . In 2007 the company carried 96 million passengers according to its own information.
Bus Éireann, which was founded in 1987 as an independent company , is now a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann . The seat of the company is the Busáras - the central bus station - in Dublin . Bus Éireann not only offers regular services between the cities, but also transports school children and trips to some major British cities.
In addition to Bus Éireann, there are a few other companies, but of much less importance, that offer bus connections between some of the larger cities in Ireland, for example Citylink , JJ Kavanagh , aircoach or Translink . Bus Éireann competes in national public transport with Iarnród Éireann , the Irish railroad. Local transport in Dublin and in the area of the former County Dublin is mainly served by Dublin Bus .
