Translink (Northern Ireland)

Translink is the brand name of Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company , the government agency for public transportation .

Translink to include the Railways NI Railways and bus companies Ulsterbus and Belfast Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Metro .

The Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company was formed by the Transport Act (NI) of 1967 and then took over the rail and bus operations, i.e. Northern Ireland Railway and Ulsterbus, from the Ulster Transport Authority .

The Belfast local transport company Citybus was integrated in 1973. Citybus was renamed Metro in 2005 .

The common brand name Translink was introduced in 1996 to emphasize the integrated nature of the activities of the railway and bus companies.

The Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company reports to the Department for Regional Development of the Northern Ireland government.
