The Argo Island is a Sudanese island in the Nile . The island is south of the third cataract and about 40 kilometers north of the town of Donqula . The island gained fame through the village of Tabo in the southern part of the island and the temple there . The sandstone temple was dedicated to the Egyptian god of wind and fertility Amun and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Sudan.
