Career

Amateur career

As an amateur, Najafi boxed for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga relay, secured several national titles and was later also used internationally in the relay of the German national team. In 2009 Najafi was in the final of the German championship and just lost (with only one point) to the eventual world and Olympic champion Artur Bril , who at the time was exactly 100 fights more experienced. The extremely fast southpaw caused a sensation with his agile fighting style and his quick reflexes.

Professional career

Najafi only fought two fights in 2013 and 2014.

In 2015, Najafi boxed for the German championship for professionals in his hometown of Düsseldorf and won this title after ten rounds and a unanimous point judgment against Dominik Tietz. Najafi broke his left flapping hand in the seventh round, but was able to take the title home with him despite his handicap thanks to his footwork and his jab.

Four weeks later, Najafi was supposed to be in the Esprit Arena in front of 45,000 spectators as a preliminary match for Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury to go to the start. When he received the call, he was already on the fight card, but could not compete because of a hand operation.

In 2016 he defeated Izzet Kurnaz after just two rounds and defended his title.
