Artur Bril

Artur Bril (born February 3, 1992 ) is a German boxer . He was 2010 youth world champion and youth Olympic champion in featherweight .

Career

Artur Bril has been a boxer since early youth. He is a member of SC Colonia 06 and is trained there by Gregori Tolkowets. He attends the Genoveva-Gymnasium in Cologne. He is a multiple German champion in the various junior categories (juniors, youth) of the German Boxing Association. Among other things, he was German champion in the age group U 17 in 2008 with a final victory over Saado Khodor, popular sport BE. In 2009 he won the German youth championship in the U 19 age group, beating Sebastian Günther from PSV Erfurt on points in the final. In 2009 he was also international German youth champion in the age groups U 18 and U 19. He defeated Broyan Batschuki, Ringfrei Oberhausen and Amet Emiovic, PSV Hanover in the finals .

In 2008 he started at the European Youth Championship in Plovdiv in featherweight (weight class up to 57 kg body weight). He won there over Gargen Wardanjan from Israel and Ion Boboc from Romania , but lost in the quarterfinals against Vyacheslav Prokoptschuk, Ukraine and finished in 5th place. In 2009 he was tournament winner at the Brandenburg Cup in Frankfurt (Oder) , where he defeated the Turkish Bünyamin Aydin just on points (6: 5) in the final battle. At this year's European Junior Championships in Szczecin he suffered a point defeat (5: 9) in his first fight against Elvin Aliyev from Azerbaijan and only came 17th.

Artur Bril was very successful in 2010. In February of this year he repeated his previous victory at the Brandenburg Cup with four wins in Frankfurt (Oder). In the final he defeated Unal Guleg from Turkey clearly on points (10: 2). In May he started at the 2nd AIBA World Youth Championship in Baku in the featherweight division, where he defeated Pavlo Ishchenko, Ukraine (12: 1), Abd el al Mohamoud, Egypt (13: 4), Dashdorj Anand, Mongolia (4: 4) . 2), Fradimil Macayo, Venezuela (4: 0), Denislaw Suslekow, Bulgaria (4: 1) and Norlan Yera from Cuba (10: 3) and thus deservedly became Junior World Champion. With this victory he was also qualified for the 1st Youth Olympics in Singapore . There he defeated Denislaw Suslekow (+2: 2) and Elvin Isajew from Azerbaijan each on points (11: 4). Since the number of participants was limited in Singapore, with these two victories he was already a youth Olympic champion.

Artur Bril has started with the seniors since 2011. He won in March 2011 in Wittenhofen in an international match against South Africa against Luthando Nkayi on points (14: 5). Then he won the lightweight tournament at the Chemistry Cup in Halle (Saale) . He defeated the English Vice European Champion of 2010 Iain Weaver (5: 3) and Fazliddin Gaibnasarow from Uzbekistan (5: 4) on points. During the so-called "Round Robin" tour. in May 2011 he won points over the Irishman Michael McDonagh (13: 5), but was defeated by the German champions of 2009 and third place in the European Championship in 2010, Eugen Burhard , Hertha BSC , on points (7:15). The German boxing association then nominated Eugen Burhard for the 2011 World Championship and Artur Bril for the 2011 European Championship in Ankara . In Ankara Artur Bril won over Airin Ismetow from Bulgaria on points (14:10), but lost in the round of 16 against Redouane Kaya from Sweden on points (15:19), which meant he was eliminated and finished in 9th place.

In 2012 Bril was nominated for the European Olympic qualification tournament in Trabzon , but was eliminated in the round of 16 against David Oliver Joyce , Ireland (10:14 pm). At the end of the year Bril started at the U22 European Championships in Kaliningrad , but lost in the quarter-finals to Joseph Cordina , Wales (15: 8).

In 2014 Bril took part in two renowned international tournaments, the Chemistry Cup in Halle (Saale) and the Strandja Memorial in Sofia , but failed both early.

World Series of Boxing

In the seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14 Bril played a total of four fights for the German Eagles and Team Germany in the World Series of Boxing, of which he won two.

AIBA Pro Boxing (APB)

Since October 2014 Artur Bril has started in the newly founded professional area "APB" of the IOC recognized world association AIBA. In the first cycle he lost all four fights against Robson Conceição , Dmitry Polyanskiy, David Oliver Joyce and Domenico Valentino . In the second cycle he lost to Shafiq Chitou and again to Valentino. Thus, at the end of the cycle, he finished penultimate in the APB ranking list in the lightweight category.
