Paulo César Chávez (born January 7, 1976 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ), also known by the nickname El Tilón , is a Mexican football player who was most often used in the (offensive) midfield .

Life

society

"El Tilón" Chávez began his professional career in the 1993/94 season with his hometown club Chivas Guadalajara , for which he played until the 1999/00 season and with which he won the Mexican championship in the summer of 1997 . Between 2000 and 2004 he played for the Rayados de Monterrey , with whom he won his second championship title in the 2003 Torneo Clausura .

After another first division season 2004/05 in the service of Deportivo Toluca , Chávez played more often in the second division and was most recently under contract with Club Necaxa , with whom he won both championships in the second division season 2009/10 and made it to the upper house in the 2010/11 season but immediately relegated.

National team

Between 1997 and 2000, "Tilón" Chavez played a total of 29 international appearances for the Mexican national team . He played his first international match on June 13, 1997 in the 1997 Copa America when Mexico beat the Colombians 2-1. His last international match took place on June 11, 2000 against the USA and was lost 3-0.

Chavez scored his two international goals on November 9, 1997 against Costa Rica (3: 3) and on June 9, 1999 against Argentina (2: 2).
