Robson Donato Conceição (born October 25, 1988 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a Brazilian professional boxer in the super featherweight division . As an amateur, he was an Olympic lightweight champion in 2016 .

Amateur career

The 1.75 m tall left boom was Brazilian flyweight champion (-51 kg) in 2005, Brazilian featherweight champion (-57 kg) in 2009 and Brazilian lightweight champion in 2012.

In 2008 Conceição took part in the American Olympic qualification tournaments in Port of Spain and Guatemala City , where he failed in the first tournament in the semifinals to Idel Torriente , but took first place in the second tournament and thus qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . At the Olympic Games, Conceição failed in the first fight against Li Yang (4:12).

In 2009 Conceição took part in the American Championships for the first time and won the featherweight gold medal after winning against Ivan Onate, Claudio Marrero and Óscar Valdez . At the World Championships in the same year he lost in the first fight against Yasniel Toledo .

At the 2010 Military World Championships, Conceição started in the lightweight for the first time, but failed in the first fight against Tommy Roque.

2011 Conceição won the Pan American Games after victories over Wellington Arias , Toka Kahn-Clary and Angel Suarez, as well as a final defeat against Lázaro Álvarez the silver medal. In the same year he also won the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro .

At the 2011 World Championships , Conceição reached the round of 16 after victories against Michał Chudecki and Martin Ward , which he just lost against eventual world champion Wassyl Lomatschenko . At the 2016 Olympics he won the gold medal with victories against Anwar Junussow (TKO), Xurshid Tojiboyev (3-0), Lázaro Álvarez (3-0) and Sofiane Oumiha (3-0).

In total, he fought 420 fights and won 405 of them.

Professional career

After the 2016 Olympic Games, he became a professional at the US promoter Top Rank . He won his debut on November 5, 2016 in Las Vegas against Clay Burns.
