Samuel A. Mosberg (born June 14, 1896 in New York , † August 30, 1967 in Brooklyn ) was an American professional boxer in the lightweight weight class , who celebrated his greatest successes in the early 1920s.
Mosberg began his career in 1912. In the following years he played about 250 amateur fights until he won the gold medal at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . In the final, he defeated the Dane Gotfred Johansen . After his victory he became a professional boxer, but already resigned in 1923 after 57 professional fights because he could not celebrate the expected successes. Mosberg, the Jew was, participated in the as coach of the US boxing team in 1953 Maccabiah part. In 1985 he was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame .
