Sofiane Oumiha (born December 23, 1994 in Toulouse ) is a French boxer and is number 1 in the AIBA world lightweight rankings .

successes

Among other things, Oumiha won the Dan Pozniak Youth Cup in Lithuania in 2012 and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Youth Championships in Yerevan . He beat the starters from Cuba , Ukraine and the USA before he was only eliminated in the semifinals with 14:16 against the later gold medalist from Russia , Hussein Bajssangurow.

In the elite class (adults) he won the 2013 Tammer tournament in Finland and the Mediterranean Games in Mersin , Turkey . He defeated Gregor Debeljak from Slovenia , Mohamed Alioua from Egypt , Fabio Introvaia from Italy and Bünyamin Aydin from Turkey. In 2014 and 2015 he became French champion, won the Beogradski Pobednik tournament in Serbia with a final victory against Miklós Varga and the Box-Am tournament in Spain .

At the 2015 European Games in Baku , he defeated Luke McCormack , Miklós Varga and Mateusz Polski , whereupon he made it to the final. In this he lost to Albert Selimow, who started for Azerbaijan . In September 2015 he won the Czech Grand Prix . At the 2015 World Championships in Doha , he was eliminated again in the quarterfinals against Albert Selimow. Before the World Cup, his record was 109 wins in 120 fights.

In March 2016 he won the Gee-Bee Tournament in Finland. In April 2016 he won the European Olympic qualification in Samsun . He beat Robert Harutyunyan from Germany , Hamo Aperjan from the Czech Republic, Volkan Gökçek from Turkey and Joseph Cordina from Wales . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro he reached the final against Teófimo López , Amnat Ruenroeng , Albert Selimow and Dordschnjambuugiin Otgondalai , which he lost to Robson Conceição and thus won the silver medal.

In May 2017 he won the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Warsaw and started in June 2017 at the European Championships in Kharkiv , where he was knocked out in the quarterfinals 2: 3 against the eventual gold medalist Jurij Schestak . In April 2019 he won the Cologne Boxing World Cup in Cologne , defeating Wladislaw Baryschnik from Germany, Jorge Moiran Vinet from Cuba and Wuttichai Masuk from Thailand . At the European Games in Minsk in 2019 he boxed light welterweight and moved into the final with victories against Aleksei Mazur, Damian Durkacz and Luke McCormack , where he lost 2: 3 to Howhannes Batschkow and won silver. At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg he boxed lightweight again and defeated Bachodur Usmonov before he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Keyshawn Davis .

Oumiha has been boxing in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) for Team France Fighting Roosters since February 2017 and is unbeaten in six fights there.
