Arizona Road Dust

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arizona road dust is a standardized SAE J726 test dust for the evaluation of filters (eg. As engines) and leak testing of housings (eg. As mobile phones).

history

With the introduction of air filters to clean the air supplied to combustion engines in the 1930s, a standardized medium for evaluating these filters became necessary.

The SAE J726 test standard was developed out of this necessity . Today Arizona Road Dust is used not only to evaluate filters but also to evaluate the dust tightness of various housings and packaging.
