Arcanization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Arkanisierung general "secrecy" is understood a situation. The term probably goes back to the Latin arcanus for secret. Arcanization is often used in connection with policy advice and brokering. Since the so-called “ kitchen cabinets ” are being arcane, there is a risk of arousing suspicion among the population and the media. Arcanization is questionable in terms of democratic theory “if more and more 'elected' instead of 'elected' gain influence” (Korte 2003: 38).
