The Arkenu Craters are a pair of eroded impact craters in the eastern Sahara of al-Kufra in Libya . About 70 km to the east is the Jabal Arkanu massif .

They have a diameter of 10 and 6.8 kilometers. They probably formed at the same time, as a result of a double impact less than 140 million years ago ( Cretaceous or later). Both craters can still be seen on the surface.

On the basis of recent investigations, it is doubted that the structures are impact craters. Instead, they are believed to be the result of erosion. The Arkenu structures have therefore been removed from the Earth Impact Database .
