Arrifana (beach)
Arrifana ( Portuguese Praia da Arrifana ) is a beach in southern Portugal , at the foot of the village of the same name, in the municipality of Aljezur in the Algarve region .
description
Arrifana is a blue flag beach in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park , which extends over a length of 500 meters. At its southern end there is a rock formation in the water called Pedra da Agulha (needle rock) because of its vertical shape .
The beach is located in a bay and is protected by soaring stone cliffs, some of which are built with residential houses. Arrifana achieved national and international fame through its year-round high wave quality, which makes it a popular destination for surfers. On the last weekends of July, a local restaurant, in collaboration with the local fishing organization Associação de Pescadores da Arrifana, hosts a festival in honor of the patron saint of fishermen.
