Ars Musica (choir book)

ars musica . A musical work for secondary schools is acollection of choral works publishedby Gottfried Wolters in collaboration with Renate Krokisius thatis approved for use in schools.

The five-volume series was published by Möseler Verlag in Wolfenbüttel and Zurich from 1962 to 1971 as a follow-up to the singing movement . She claimed to take into account the "necessity of forming a valid canon of songs for the whole school". ars musica combines folk songs as well as secular and sacred choral pieces. In addition, it contains an extensive apparatus of directories of songs, themes, origins, texts, composers, lyricists and sources.

Volumes IV and V are each subdivided into choral music in a historical sequence (early sacred polyphony, German Cantus Firmus song and choral song up to 1700, European choral music up to 1700, sacred choral music from Palestrina to Mozart, classical and romantic choral music, contemporary choral music ) and choral music in school life (daily circle, annual circle, celebration, praise of music, spiritual festival circle of the year).
