Arsham Parsi

Arsham Parsi (born September 20, 1980 in Shiraz , Iran ) is the speaker and secretary of Human Rights Affairs for the Persian Gay and Lesbian Organization and a member of the international advisory board of the Hirschfeld Eddy Foundation. He lives in Toronto .

Life, work and flight

In 2001 he started an email group Rainbow in Iran. In 2004 he founded the Persian Gay & Lesbian Organization (PGLO). In 2006 he spoke to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

An execution order from the Iranian government against him prompted him to flee via Turkey to the west. He left Iran on March 4, 2005. After 13 months in Turkey, the UNHCR placed him in Canada, where he found acceptance and protection as a refugee.

Arsham Parsi was co-founder of the IRQO & IRQR (Iranian Railroad for Queer Refugees) and later its spokesman and managing director. In August 2008, he was fired from IRQO for several reasons.
