Art aquarium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a species aquarium is known in the hunting and an aquarium , where only one type of fauna is held. This is conceivable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums . Most species aquariums, however, are freshwater aquariums.

Species aquariums are used to tailor the keeping conditions precisely to the needs of the animals kept in them. Discus fish , for example, are very often kept in species aquariums because they have proven to be too susceptible to disease in a community aquarium . The keeping requirements of killifishes can usually only be implemented in the species aquarium. Due to their aggressive behavior, some species are not suitable for socialization with other fish. This includes, for example, the dwarf puffer fish, which nibbles on the fins of other fish.

Some invertebrates are also kept in special species aquariums. The bee shrimp , which has become popular in recent years, are also often kept in such aquariums because they show their agile behavior most clearly when they do not have to share the aquarium with fish.
