Inferior vesical artery
The inferior vesical artery ("lower bladder artery") - referred to in animal anatomy as the caudal vesical artery - is an artery of the pelvic cavity .
The man's inferior vesical artery arises from the internal iliac artery and runs to the urinary bladder . It supplies the lower part of the urinary bladder and gives off branches to the ureter , seminal vesicle and prostate . In women, it corresponds to the vaginal artery .
In other mammals the arteria vesicalis caudalis arises from the arteria prostatica or arteria vaginalis . Clinically, it is of particular importance in males , as it must be spared when the prostate is removed ( prostatectomy ).
