The Arthur Ashe Stadium is the main stadium ( Center Court ) of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows , the venue of the US Open . Built in 1997, it was named after the American tennis player Arthur Ashe, who had died four years earlier .

Arthur Ashe Stadium is the largest tennis stadium in Flushing Meadows and the largest all-tennis stadium in the world. The court seats 22,547 fans.

On August 16, 2013, the USTA published plans for a roof structure for the stadium. These renovations cost 150 million US dollars. They were completed in 2016. The roof can be closed in 5:42 minutes. In addition, the Fortnite World Cup took place there.

  • The Louis Armstrong Stadium , newly built between 2016 and 2018, is the second largest in Flushing Meadows with 14,000 seats.
