Arthur S. Maxwell

Arthur Stanley Maxwell (born January 14, 1896 in London , † November 13, 1970 ) was an author and editor, as well as leader of the Seventh-day Adventists .

Life

Maxwell attended Stanborough College in London. He became an employee at Stanborough Press at an early age. On May 3, 1917, he married his colleague Rachel Elizabeth Joyce, with whom he had four sons and two daughters.

Maxwell later began writing articles for The Present Truth magazine , which has been called the Adventist Review since 1972 and is the official Adventist magazine. He also wrote for Signs of the Times , also an Adventist magazine. In 1920 Maxwell became editor of the Present Truth and until 1927 he was director and treasurer of Stanborough Press. At the same time he was pastor of a nearby church, an official spokesman for the Adventist church and also the editor of a health magazine.

He wrote a total of 112 books in the course of his life and is known as Uncle Arthur by many Adventists around the world. A publication that is also widespread in German is Menschen in Gottes Hand , Bible stories retold for children in 10 volumes.
