Arthur Schell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arthur Schell († August 7, 1988 in Wolgast ) was a successful motorboat racing driver in the GDR . Schell began his racing career in 1969. After his first GDR runner-up in the 175 cm³ racing boat class in 1970, he made the leap into the national team for the European championship for the first time in the following year. He was denied international titles, however, because from 1972 the GDR no longer sent participants to championships in motorboat racing. Schell had a fatal accident in the Wolgast race in 1988.

Schell slowly worked his way up in his career. After starting in the OJ class (175 cm³ racing boats), he successively rose to the OA (250 cm³), OB (350 cm³) and from 1986 OC (500 cm³) classes. He started out for MC Post Berlin and most recently for MC Bad Saarow .
