Aruna ( Sanskrit , m., अरुण, aruṇa , "dawn") is a figure from Indian mythology . He is the son of Kashyapa and Vinata and thus brother of Garuda . Aruna is god of the dawn and in some stories the charioteer of the sun god Surya , in others a manifestation of Surya himself.

The male first name Arun is derived from Aruna .
