As-treated analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The as-treated analysis ( German analysis according to treatment ) is a data analysis principle of medical statistics , which is mainly used in the context of randomized clinical trials . The term on-treatment analysis is also used in the medical literature .

In the as-treated analysis, only the results of those test subjects who actually received the intervention or medication to be tested in the course of the study are taken into account in the data evaluation, regardless of which study group they were originally assigned.

The as-treated analysis is a subtype of the per-protocol analysis . It has the advantage that it can be used primarily to assess the side effect profile of a particular intervention or medication. As with the per-protocol analysis, however, the random principle is also broken here, so that the results can be statistically distorted ( English bias ).
