Asa (Texas)

Asa is a populated place in McLennan County in the US state of Texas .

It is at an elevation of 390 feet (just under 119 meters ) at the intersection of Farm Road 2643 and 434.

history

Asa was one of the parishes on the Old River Road from Waco to Marlin . The town's heyday coincided with the heyday of cotton production. The place was originally called Norwood, got its current name from the Texas and New Orleans Railroad . It was named after Asa Woodward Warner , the wife of a Waco entrepreneur. In addition to four farms in the vicinity of Asa and a shop, Warner owned a cotton ginning plant. This plant was to remain in operation until 1983. At the time of the shutdown, Asa had over a hundred inhabitants, in 1990 and 2000 it had 46 inhabitants.
