Asamankese

Asamankese is the capital of the East Akim District in the Eastern Region of the West African state of Ghana . At the last census of the country on March 26, 2000, 34,855 people lived in the city. Projections for January 1, 2007 estimate the population to be 37,349. In the 1984 census, 23,077 inhabitants were listed. In 1970 the population was only 16,905.

The city is currently at the 38th position on the list of the largest cities in Ghana.
