Asang Forest

The Asangwald is a forest area south of Gmünd (Lower Austria) .

The Asangwald extends from the Asangteich on the outskirts of Gmünd to the edge of Großdietmanns municipality . A marked hiking trail crosses the forest, which is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E8 and leads past the Hubertusbild .

Word origin

The early New High German word asangen means to singe, to make arable by slash and burn.
