Ashram Shambaly sect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ashram-Shambaly sect ( Russian Ашрам Шамбала , English ashram shambala ; also Belovodje Russian Беловодье , German for "white water", a kind of paradise from the Slavic mythical world) is a Russian occult-religious sect , which was founded in 1989 by Constantine Dmitrijewitsch Rudnew in Novosibirsk , Soviet Union . Between 1990 and 2010 the sect operated in many areas of Russia and the former Soviet Union. The number of members there, mostly young people between the ages of 17 and 30, was estimated at around 15,000 to 20,000. Nowadays the sect is called Inliranga School and the name of the sect for the public is "Alma International Academy of Womanly Wisdom".

After various criminal proceedings had to be discontinued because members of the sect did not want to testify against the founder, a psychological commission ruled him in 2004 as "criminally ill", whereupon he was admitted to a psychiatric clinic, from which he escaped.

In 2010 he was arrested near Novosibirsk and charged with rape , sexual abuse of followers, drug trafficking and for founding an organization that endangers and violates personal rights.

In 2013, he was sentenced to eleven years in a labor camp as a result. Law enforcement agencies in Russia have described the movement as "one of the most vile totalitarian sects in Russia" and compared it to the Aum Shinrikyo sect .

The term Shambala refers to a Tibetan Buddhist legend of a mythical holy kingdom.

The ban on the sect in the Russian Federation was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2014.

Konstantin Dmitrievich Rudnew

The founder, born on August 4, 1967 in Novosibirsk, completed an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. He is said to have initially worked as a steel worker and to have been interested in books on Eastern esoteric and pagan cults in his youth; He came to the conclusion that he was sent to earth by powers of higher worlds (by Sirius) "to enlighten people and lead them to truth". He was first noticed during military service in 1986 when he proposed to his superiors a restructuring in the style of the Shaolin monks, which would have meant giving up alcohol, tobacco and meat, as well as severely punishing bad habits. The superiors acted as authoritarian "mentors", taught martial arts and trained the adepts day and night. Shortly afterwards he was admitted to the Kuibyshev Psychiatric Clinic (now Samara), where he stayed until 1989.

He then returned to Novosibirsk and founded the Karawan wellness company with Jelena Sakharova , which offered seminars on non-traditional healing methods: Yoga, "Teaching of Shambala", Reiki, "Astral Karate". The company later changed the name and corporate design several times.

The founder describes himself as "Master Bogomudr Altai Kagan", "Schri Jschnan Avatar Muni", as an "enlightened teacher", as a "great shaman"; as God, as coming from Sirius, as "Altai Chi", as "Altai Kagan the enlightened", teacher "Kalki" and others.

He could not be denied business acuity, the income from seminars, the sale of “magic items” and pornographic videos, and from gifts from adepts was considerable.

Offers for followers and those interested

The group offers spiritual experiences with terms such as “Ancient Russian Knowledge”, “Siberian Shamanism” or “Raja / Aharata Yoga ”. According to critics, seduction and sexual techniques are practiced under the heading "Discovery of the divine energy of women: secrets of love, youth and beauty". Healing, business success and psychic powers are services that a master of this group offers against payment.

Life in the sect

The sect is considered totalitarian and dangerous because of the extreme methods of influencing members psychologically and mentally, as well as because of the violence. Harsh penalties are imposed for wrongdoing, including intimidation, sticking, deprivation of food, long periods of sitting in the cold, sleep deprivation, and even torture and rape.

Adults as well as children were “treated” with psychotropic substances (so-called “shaman tea” made from herbs). What is striking about the sect is the strong emphasis on sex practices as a means of enlightenment, which also included orgies and sex with animals, which the founder declared as “Tantra Yoga”. Sex videos were sold and contributed to the sect's sizeable revenues. Under the term "purification", some members were locked in a dark room for several days with no food or sleep.

The sect has a strict hierarchical structure: the founder has two personal assistants, including “teachers”, who are busy recruiting new members via seminars and the Internet. New members were urged to transfer their property to the sect.

Members of an ashram (often residences given by members to the sect) are isolated from the outside world and their families: telephone, television or internet were forbidden. They got a new "spiritual" name. They lived together in a confined space, were only allowed to sleep little, and were poorly fed. In addition to physical training (dance, yoga exercises, gymnastics), teachings and community meditations, they were busy with the handcraft of objects (e.g. clothes or "magic" amulets) which were sold by the sect. Adepts were under the strict supervision of the "mentors" until they were allowed to go to the toilet.

Young women in particular were the target of the recruitment: For example, they were taught seduction techniques in a “school for goddesses”, which also included meditation and self-hypnosis. Spiritual interest in "secrets of the universe" and "discovery of feminine energy" was very quickly drawn to "tantra" practices. Young women should be of sexual service to their “mentors” and the sect founder Rudnew.

With regard to people outside the sect, it was taught that theft, fraud, and abuse were permissible.

On the Internet, e.g. B. on YouTube, a variety of videos of the sect are circulating.

According to the BITE model for recognizing destructive methods of personality control, practically all characteristics are fulfilled.

Rejection by traditional shamans

The organization of the Mongolian shamans explicitly distances itself from these practices and describes them as impostors ("impostors"). They now prefer to refer to their own traditional spirituality as "tengerism" after the term shamanism they used was misused by the New Age movement.

The main page of the “Circle of Tengerism” explains the traditional spirituality of Siberian shamanism for western readers. In particular, it is emphasized that, according to their beliefs, one cannot declare oneself to be a shaman and that one must be recognized by a shaman and trained for many years.

Public appearance

The group now also operates in Germany and in many European countries, in Chile , Brazil and the USA . Not only are seminars held, but “magic objects” and sound carriers are also sold. The frequent reference to “shamanic knowledge” is striking. Teachers of the sect operate under many different names and avoid disclosing the connection with the sect.
