Tulketh Mill

Ashton-on-Ribble is a suburb of Preston in England , which was mentioned in the Domesday Book . Ashton is now an electoral district in Preston, but it is not the same as the slang term known as Ashton as it is used throughout western Preston.

Of particular importance in Ashton-on-Ribble is the Tulketh area . In Tulketh, Cistercian monks from Savigny Abbey founded a monastery in 1124 . In 1127 they moved this Tulketh Priory to Furness and founded Furness Abbey . It is known from the 14th century that there was a mansion on the site of Tulketh Priory, which became known as Tulketh Hall . The mansion was rebuilt in 1960 after use a. a. demolished as the administrative headquarters of the Tulketh Mill spinning mill.
