Asimina Arvanitaki
Asimina Arvanitaki ( Greek Ασημίνα Αρβανιτάκη ; * 1980 ) is a Greek theoretical physicist and Stavros Niarchos Foundation Aristarchus Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Perimeter Institute .
She deals with physics beyond the standard model and in particular new experiments, for example for the detection of dark matter candidates and signatures for new particles at the LHC.
With Savas Dimopoulos and Ken Van Tilburg she beat 2016 to detect dark matter as a matter wave with conventional gravitational wave detectors (resonance detectors such AURIGA near Padua) (wavelengths were considered first in the kilohertz range) or by atomic clocks. With Peter W. Graham and Surjeet Rajendran , she also pursues detection methods using atomic interferometry, and she proposed detecting the axion as a candidate for dark matter from the precise analysis of gravitational waves from the merging of black holes. She further suggested with others to look for decay products of high mass dark matter (predicted in supersymmetric theories) in neutrino and gamma ray telescopes such as the Fermi telescope , Hess or IceCube .
In 2017 she received the New Horizons in Physics Prize with Surjeet Rajendran and Peter W. Graham for developing new experimental verifications of physics beyond the Standard Model.

They assume that dark matter is also involved in non-gravitational interactions. Candidates would be scalar moduli from string theory, which determine the electron mass and fine structure constant.
