Aspect (biology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aspect ( Latin aspectus "appearance") is a term that is often used in connection with seasonal sequences in subjects such as geobotany or landscape ecology . It describes the phenological appearance of an animal or plant species or the design of an ecosystem or a biocenosis during a certain season . The appearance of the species, the ecosystem or the landscape are characterized by a regularly recurring sequence of features (sequence of aspects ). The seasonal aspect of a landscape is mostly determined by a few but large numbers of species (e.g. dandelions ) or particularly striking species (e.g. autumn crocus ).
