Aspona

Aspona (also Aspuna , Greek  Ἄσπονα ) was an ancient city in the Asian Minor region of Galatia in what is now Turkey. She lay on the road from Ancyra to Caesarea , but the exact location is unknown.

Aspona is mentioned in itineraries and by the late antique historian Ammianus Marcellinus . In late antiquity it was the seat of a bishop. The titular bishopric of Aspona of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
